THE LISTENING is excited to announce its inaugural virtual conference, The Poetic Justice Conference, taking place on January 16, 2021. This first-ever virtual conference is being structured as a community experience as well as a creative resource for artists, educators, students, activists and mental health advocates.
The goal of The Poetic Justice Conference is to manifest The Listening’s mission statement to engage, change, and save lives with the performing arts through community engagement and youth programming.
In partnership with Blackwater Branding and Poetic Truth, this virtual event will consist of multiple panels, performances, and breakout sessions from speakers with diverse areas of experience and expertise, such as education, child advocacy, social justice, various art disciplines and mental health.
THIS VIRTUAL CONFERENCE IS BEING SPONSORED IN PART BY:
Keyma Flight is a 19 year old Taurus slam poet, activist, and chicken box connoisseur from Baltimore, Maryland. She has been on the Baltimore City Youth poetry team for three years in a row. She is the Hyperbole Slam Champion of 2019 and 1/6th of the international slam champions of Brave New Voices in 2018. She plans to get into the healthcare or creative administrative field, with hopes of creating education rehabilitation programs for the people of Baltimore. Keyma is an earth poet and loves astrology. You can catch Keyma either sleeping, working, or over-analyzing Avatar: The Last Airbender.
