DONOR SPOTLIGHT: Ashley N.

Welcome to our Donor Highlight Series! As we get closer to fundraising season, we want to highlight stories of impact. This year has been intense for many, and we are no exception - but we've also been able to lean on our mission. We would like to hear from the community of donors that keep us going - and help us keep the figurative lights on!

Donor Spotlight!

Ashley N. (and her husband Josh)

Listen to Phantoms on Spotify. Acceptance · Album · 2005 · 12 songs.

What is your favorite music album/book of all time? Why?

The album “Phantoms” by Acceptance (2005). As a really “emotional” kid, this album was the first time I heard music expressing some of the big emotions I hadn’t learned to put words to, yet. I still jam out to it from time to time.

How have the arts made an impact in your life?

The arts have provided me countless ways to connect with my community, seek truth, and see beauty in the world.

Which one of The Listening’s events or programs are you the most passionate about? Why?

Open Mics/events discussing mental health and suicide prevention. They are topics that are so often wrestled with in the dark. Having a space full of care and support to creatively express our scariest parts is so healing for individuals and communities.

If you could describe yourself/your organization as a musical instrument, what would it be?

Probably an accordion - you either love me or hate me. 😂

What social issue are you personally most passionate about?

The intersection of early childhood education, social justice, and mental health.

If you had a room full of people willing to listen to you, what would you say?

Take care of yourself and take care of each other.
