Seaweed snacks. Seaweed is NOT for me

What were you like in middle/high school?

A really chill kid. I loved all types of sports and music. I was also a huge nerd for science.

Our National Day of Social Action theme for 2022 is Climate Justice. What do you think justice for our environment looks like?

Climate justice is a bit of a new topic for me. I started looking into after my diversity group at school held an event about it. To me climate justice involves the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people to reduce and manage lasting effect of climate change.

Since beginning in 2019, our Freedom School journey has discussed issues like gun violence, voting rights, youth justice/incarceration and more. What is one social justice/action issue that you are passionate about? Why?

The wrongful mass shootings of minorities if a huge one for me. This year alone I’ve heard of so many shootings. That means someone’s son, daughter, father or mother had died for some ridiculous reason. It has to stop.

What makes you excited about returning or joining the team this year?

I’m excited for the various experiences with both my team and the scholars.

If you had a room full of people willing to listen to you, what would you say?

I'm not better than you and you're not better than me. Yet we're not equal. Everyone is too unique to compare. Our individuality is something that should be celebrated not discriminated against.
