What part of the country are you originally from?

If you were in charge of bringing one food item to The Cookout, what would it be and why?

The chili and cole slaw, because it’s part of who I am as someone born and raised in the south! Even if I am the only one to eat it, I'm bringing it!

What is your least favorite snack food and why?

Raisins and dried fruit - it's gross.

Let's dig a bit deeper. What's the last song that made you dance?

What were you like in middle/high school?

I was fun and heavily involved like I am now. I was still finding myself, but many people gravitated towards me because of the confidence I had in myself and who I was trying to become.

J. Cole or Kendrick Lamar?

Kendrick Lamar

Name of a Book/Story That Made An Impact On You When You Were Younger. What was so impactful about this book?

7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey - This book really made me reevaluate my life and helped me a lot at a time where I was down. I keep the seven habits with me daily and they really keep me grounded.

Complete this phrase: "Freedom is..."

…not comfortable for everyone. Freedom for many is a break in the status quo for others. We can not reach universal freedom without striking out various forms of supremacy that keep so many people oppressed.

What is one social justice/action issue that you are passionate about? Why?

Racism in all forms, especially systemic racism. We don't often see how so many things and attitudes around us are informed by race and racism.

In 2020, we had to suspend our program. What makes you excited about returning or joining the team this year?

I am sooooo excited to meet our scholars and form a family and community with them! We are going to have a blast!

If you had a room full of people willing to listen to you, what would you say?

Actions trump intentions always! I have never claimed to be a good person, but I have always tried to be. Listen to others when your intentions do not equate to the actions that you have perpetrated against them.
